Benefits of Acupuncture

Acupuncture is effective in the treatment of a wide range of conditions due to the fact that it can stimulate the body’s own healing process. Because traditional acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation, it can be effective for a range of conditions. This approach also means that each patient’s treatment plan will be different.

Acupuncture is great for chronic pain, arthritis, sports injuries, headaches and migraines, PMT, menopausal problems, fertility, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, hayfever, chronic fatigue syndrome ME , and sleep. Some common problems that are especially in their chronic forms, create great difficulty for conventional medicine, whilst acupuncture has a great deal to offer.

The World Health Organisation in 2003 recognised the effectiveness of Acupuncture for treating a range of conditions. For more information on this please go to WHO website.

In 2009 the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence recommended that acupuncture should be made available on the NHS, as a cost-effective short-term treatment for the management of early, persistent non-specific lower back pain.

Acupuncture is now widely accepted as an effective solution for a range of illnesses and symptoms, there is a substantial body of evidence to support this. Please go to the BAc website  to find out about research that has been carried out into acupuncture, including low back pain, nausea and osteoarthritis knee pain.
